Fire sinks three yachts at Mosman marina
Local authorities are investigating a fire that engulfed several yachts in a New South Wales harbour before dawn broke on 9 January…

Several yachts were destroyed in a blaze at a marina in Mosman on Sydney’s north shore in the early hours of 9 January, after firefighters were called to the scene shortly after 3am.
The fire ignited on board a vessel at The Spit marina, a major berthing hub in the New South Wales (NSW) region for yachts over 30 metres. Four people were evacuated from one vessel and a woman was treated for smoke inhalation before being taken to the hospital in stable condition.
More than 40 firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW responded to the blaze at 3:21am, supported by a firefighting vessel from the Port Authority of NSW. The fire took around two and a half hours to bring under control.
Three yachts were destroyed and sank as a result of the fire, while a fourth vessel sustained severe damage.

Fire and Rescue NSW said it was working with the NSW Environment Protection Authority to deploy containment booms around the affected area to manage debris and prevent the spread of oil or fuel into the harbour.
Police said preliminary checks indicated the fire was not suspicious, although an investigation into its cause remains ongoing.
