ASMEX 2020 to focus on key market drivers

With legislative progress and international events in the offing, this year's event could catalyse market growth…

As the 10th annual Australian Superyacht, Marine Export & Commercial Marine Industry (ASMEX) creeps onto the horizon, The Superyacht Group is proud to announce its perennial media partnership for this important industry event.

Taking place from Monday 18 May to Tuesday 19 May 2020 at the InterContinental Resort, Sanctuary Cove, ASMEX 2020 is constructed around the industry’s core issues, and delivered through a programme comprising quality speakers and informative debate.

Australia finds itself at a pivotal time in its superyacht history. Already, Australia has an excellent global reputation, with its vast expanse of cruising options and major attractions such as the Great Barrier Reef. And with an ever-growing portfolio of superyacht infrastructure this is a region of increasing potential, which is also becoming progressively supported by regulatory changes.

With an ever-growing portfolio of superyacht infrastructure this is a region of increasing potential, which is also becoming progressively supported by regulatory changes.

Following the recent passing by the Senate, of the Special Recreational Vessel legislation, foreign superyachts are now able to charter in Australia through a coastal trading temporary licence. Resulting in numerous benefits to the marine industry in general, it is expected that we will see an increase in superyacht visitation activity in the Pacific region thanks to the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics and the America’s Cup in Auckland, New Zealand in March 2021.

For two days, ASMEX 2020 will shine a spotlight on the future of the marine industry in Australia, the South Pacific and the global industry in its entirety. The Superyacht Group’s chairman, Martin Redmayne, will once again lead the conference, hosting a series of powerful discussions, many of which are based on market intelligence and data.

“More than $100 million has been spent on refit infrastructure in Australia in the last 12 months alone,” explained David Good, CEO of Australian International Marine Export Group, Superyacht Australia, commenting in The Pacific Superyacht Report. “This is the benefit we provide to our Pacific neighbours; we can assist in keeping these vessels in the Pacific longer because they do not need to venture all the way back to Europe or the East Coast of the US for a survey or refit.”

Key elements of the programme will include migration patterns and a Pacific partnership, climate change and sustainability, The Australian marketplace, regulations, and how to build a successful strategy to attract the global fleet.

This crucial event is set to build on its solid reputation for delivering quality and powerful information and intelligence, and provide delegates with a true understanding on the state of this growing marketplace along with invaluable networking opportunities and real industry intelligence.

Delegate registration for this key regional event is now open, and those interested can register here.

It also represents the first in a growing schedule of Pacific-focussed events for 2020, with The Superyacht Pacific Forum following shortly afterwards.
