The Programme

TSF : Connect

In 2023, TSF: Connect is all about fostering connections, sharing knowledge and cultivating innovation in the superyacht industry. One of the most anticipated features of The Forum for more than 30 years has always been the chance to meet and connect with key industry figures, and this year will offer more opportunities than ever. In line with our theme of TSF: Connect, this year’s event will have fewer keynotes and more focus on dynamic networking.

8:00 - 9:30
METSTRADE Breakfast Briefing

Open to all TSF: Connect delegates, the 2023 METSTRADE Breakfast Briefing is the official opening of METSTRADE's 35th trade exhibition and features a keynote address from Sanlorenzo Chairman Massimo Perotti. As Italian new build pioneers, Sanlorenzo and Perotti have a vision for the future as the wider industry transitions to a more sustainable future.

Keynote

Ocean Exploration, Advocacy & Superyacht Industry Support

The health and condition of the Ocean are critically important. In this incredible keynote presentation, live from the Pacific Ocean, Paul Rose, Explorer, Broadcaster, Head of Expeditions at National Geographic Pristine Seas will share some incredible stories, footage and opinions on the state of the Oceans. This vital keynote will discuss how we can best engage with those outside of our industry who share the same values while exploring how superyachts, their owners and operators can play an active role in ensuring the continued prosperity of the marine world in which they operate.

Workshops

YETI – Lifecycle Impact and Refit - Orange Room

Quantifying the impact of the current fleet is one thing, taking action is significantly more complicated. How does the ground-breaking Yacht Environmental Transparency Index approach refit? How do the modifications made to a yacht during refit affect its YETI score?

Hanna DÄ…browska - Naval Architect & Sustainable Design Specialist

Kristina Hebert - President/CEO - Ward's Marine Electric

Derek Munro - Director - Divergent Yachting

Stefan Coronel - Royal Huisman Shipyard

Daniel Chatterjee – Director Corporate Sustainability, Technology Strategy & Regulatory Affairs - MTU Rolls Royce Solution GmbH

Pressing The Nuclear Button - Yellow Room

Using nuclear reactors on board a private yacht has seemed a step too far for many, but if handled safely, its sustainability credentials are hard to contradict. Surprisingly for some, forward-thinking Class societies, designers and builders see it as a feasible solution.

Chris Boreham - Chief Marine Surveyor - Bermuda Shipping & Maritime Authority

Engel-Jan de Boer - Yacht Segment Director - Lloyd's Register

Øyvind Gjerde Kamsvåg - Chief Designer - Ulstein

Patrizio Di Francesco - EMEA Special Projects Manager - Principal Engineer - RINA

Submersibles - Red Room

Following on from the scene-setting discussion on the main stage, The Red Ensign Group will lead a deep dive into the world of submarines in the post-Titan disaster landscape. Triton Submarines will be joined by REV Ocean to discuss the trajectory and use of private exploration and research submersibles.

Carlo Vinelli - Marine Advisor - Red Ensign Group

Craig Barnett - Sales and Marketing Manager - Triton Submarines

Leighton Rolley - Science Systems Manager - REV Ocean

Jon Rysst - Global Business Development Director - DNV Maritime

Peter Southgate - Regional Director and Yacht Code Specialist - Cayman Islands Shipping Registry

Designing for the Ocean - Blue Room

Designing a yacht with minimal impact on the oceans on which it operates is a worthy and attention-grabbing cause, but how does this translate into commercial success? Fundamentally changing the design and naval architecture of a yacht, as well as approaching the 'impact' as a holistic term, requires an innovative rethink.

Simon Brealey - Chief Engineer Mechanical - Lateral Naval Architects

Dennis de Roos - Commercial Director - Arksen

Pieter van den Ouden - RINA

Paolo Izzo - Marine & Offshore - Lloyd's Register

Martin Richter – Ship Type Expert Yachts – DNV

Green Energy Supply - Green Room

Is it all systems go for hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO)? Supplying a cleaner energy-storage solution for superyachts is the key question of our time. The simplest solution seems to be biofuels such as HVO and renewable shore supply. The closest to a plug-and-play solution for the current fleet, question marks remain surrounding its supply chain and global accessibility.

Jeff Houlgrave - Marina Projects

Chris Warde - Head of Peninsula Yacht Services

Giedo Loeff - Head of Research and Development - Feadship

Franco Ceroici - Marina Planet
