Amico & Co has published its inaugural sustainability report, providing an overview of the company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance and outlining its future objectives. The report has been developed in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines.
A materiality analysis identified ten key areas of focus for the company. These include employee development, growth within the employee sector, quality and safety of services, and economic responsibility through territorial redistribution.
The Sustainability Report highlights key figures for the year 2021, including a 73 per cent thermal efficiency improvement in the hangars, saving 405 tonnes of CO2 equivalent over the three-year period from 2019 to 2021. Additionally, all docks at the shipyard and Waterfront Marina have been electrified, and the company distributed economic value amounting to €54.5 million in 2021, representing approximately 90 per cent of the value of production.
Amico & Co has also subsequently implemented a comprehensive renewable solar power system, purposed to meet over half of the annual energy requirements for both the shipyard and Waterfront Marina production activities. The newly established system, covering more than 4,300 square metres, consists of 1,782 solar panels, capable of generating a maximum power close to 1 MegaWatt peak (1 MWp).
Prepared in collaboration with sustainability and energy consultancy firm AzzeroCO2, the report covers data from the period 2019-2021 and is now available for download on Amico & Co’s website.
