What really happened the night members of the superyacht industry got led away to experience a seven-star dining experience?

Robots, lasers, eighteenth-century clothing, ‘60s mini vans. Intrigued? So were members of The Superyacht Forum last night, as a specially selected few were led away by our eighteenth-century actor and guide, for a seven-star dining experience hosted by Luxury Hospitality. And an experience it most definitely was.

Now, the word ‘experience’ in itself suggests putting pen to paper is almost defunct - the whole point of last night’s highly anticipated and secretive event was not to tell the industry about silver service and the impact of a seven-star hospitality experience, but to show them.

So I’m not going to tell you either, even though no doubt seeing the 20 odd specially selected captains, yacht managers and industry representatives being escorted off in a van blaring with music from the ‘60s has got your ears listening and eyes opening, not to mention the envelopes being handed out with our ‘instructions’ for the evening. What I am going to say is the night involved tables and dining themed by century, a cocktail made by Holland’s best mixologist, with the use of lasers - not to mention being served by a robot - and when it came to the desert course, let’s say only a full, room-sized display would do. Drinks were topped up without you noticing, plates were served and removed without a noise, and all with the biggest and warmest smiles - proof that service really does shape the seven-star experience.

Those who are perhaps even more intrigued than they were seeing the very beginnings of this exceptional seven-star experience last night do have a chance to find out not only what it’s all about, but its relevance to the superyacht industry. On Wednesday 15 November, from 12-13:30 in The Workshop Room (room 108), Luxury Hospitality, the training provider and industry experts on seven-star service, will be unveiling exactly how it’s going to be shaking up this industry.
