Nothing has been seen of 87m M/Y Lonian since a six-minute time-lapse film of her build premiered at her launch, in July 2018, was shared on Feadship’s YouTube channel. The low profile of the yacht since has been attributed to the owner’s request for a year of private cruising after the launch, with no further publicity. But details, and accompanying images have now been released.

The owners reportedly chose Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design for Lonian’s exterior styling because they like the Dutch studio’s masculine style. The ‘Majestic Blue’ hull proved to be a challenge that was overcome by Feadship’s paint team, as the colour is often unforgiving of any faults. Another design feature of Lonian is the quantity of stainless steel used: which is used on the V-cut feature on the port and starboard side to the boat’s bow to give the boat a dramatic effect.

There is also a wealth of glass used in the wide body section of a design that, according to Feadship, ‘is surprisingly slimline considering the full-beam main deck with no sidewalks’. One of the owner’s requests was for a swimming pool with a translucent bottom that would double up as part of the ceiling of the beach club below. A cinema screen is also integrated at the end of the pool.

The owner’s deck features a giant skylight and large flush foredeck. Guests can benefit from the exclusivity of the balconies with exterior sliding doors on the two VIP staterooms and those arriving by tender can make use of a smart boat boom solution made possible by the absence of gangways. These extended telescopic booms allow tenders to attach to the platform on the starboard side and comfortably access the guest entrance. Featuring a fully-equipped deck for an AW169 helicopter, Lonian is also accessible by air. The helideck also has a substantial crane capable of lifting 3.5 tonnes if any tender needs a home for the night.

 To optimise the enjoyment of available space on board, the 87m vessel travels with a 66m support vessel to transport even more equipment, along with up to 20 crew. In addition to this, the yacht has 22 different openings to create an open feel on board.

Another feature that isn’t visible in the images is the high-end audio installation. The rest of Lonian’s interior, created by Sinot in collaboration with Richard Hallberg Interior Design, will remain private. However, it has been revealed that it includes a glass elevator serving all five decks and a main deck lounge absent of any pillars that could interrupt the panoramic views.

According to data supplied by The Superyacht Agency, since the launch of Lonian in 2018, Feadship has seen its average delivered LOA creep up. Delivering five boats with an average LOA of 73.7m last year, in 2019 it has delivered four with an average of 75.3m. Although this may only be a slight increase, looking at the shipyard’s order book for the next two years this increase is set to continue. If all orders are successfully delivered within this timeframe, Feadship’s delivery figure is set to reach the lofty average LOA of 84.9m in 2021.
