A love for superyacht design is the primary reason I was drawn to the superyacht market. In my eyes, everything, from the fundamentals of naval architecture to the placement of a scatter cushion, is a truly wonderful piece of the superyacht puzzle. As my fascination for superyacht design morphs into something of an unhealthy obsession, one thing becomes abundantly clear – I am certainly not alone in this love affair.

Without a shadow of a doubt, the world of superyacht design is brimming with some of the most passionate, diligent and remarkable individuals, all striving to leave their mark and transform the superyacht industry for the better. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with the individuals within this sector, who are not only continuously feeding my obsession, but, more importantly, inspiring owners to begin (or continue) their superyacht journeys.

So, for a chance to win a discounted ticket to The Superyacht Design Forum 2019 and in keeping with the spirit of Valentine’s Day, we’re asking the market to share their thoughts on why they love superyachts and love superyacht design. Those selected will also be wined (or beered) and dined by yours truly, with an interview feature to appear in an upcoming issue of The Superyacht Report.

To take part, send the reasons why you love superyachts and superyacht design to lovedesign@thesuperyachtgroup.com. The Superyacht Group chairman & editor in chief, Martin Redmayne has kicked off the season of love:

I love Superyachts for the simple reason that each one is the amalgamation of several years of blood, sweat and tears exerted by hundreds of passionate artisans, craftsmen and women, in order to satisfy the demands and desires of the most powerful people on the planet. They are the floating cathedrals, palaces, castles and stately homes of the billionaire’s modern world.

I love Design when it is simple, logical and intelligent and not just waste of money without purpose or taste.

I look forward to discovering what you love about this weird and wonderful market and, if you’re lucky, discussing it over a tipple or two.
