Moore & Co secures $16m payout for injured labourer

The law firm settled the dispute on behalf of a worker who suffered a severe brain injury in a South Florida shipyard…

Michael Moore, Madison Bode and Rey Saenz of Moore & Co have secured a settlement of $16m on behalf of a labourer who was injured in a South Florida boat yard.

“The yacht world is normally a remarkably safe place to work on both boats and ashore. But negligence is negligence whenever and wherever it occurs,” says Michael Moore, the lead trial attorney and founder of Moore & Co.

The injured labourer was employed as a painting contractor when he fell from the scaffolding he was working from. The fall left him with a traumatic brain injury.

The case concluded as a successful full-liability trial. After the Broward County Jury found the shipyard guilty of negligence, both parties settled before the Court could turn to the question of damages.
