Boero Yacht Coatings announces partnership with Ferrari Hypersail
Italian brands collaborate to develop a coating system designed to enhance vessel performance while operating under stress conditions…

Some projects are meant to compete. Others are meant to redefine the limits.
Boero Yacht Coatings, during an institutional event in Maranello, announced its partnership supporting the development of Ferrari Hypersail, a research platform applied to high-performance sailing led by Team Principal Giovanni Soldini.
The collaboration brings together two companies at the forefront of Italian excellence worldwide, united by an ongoing commitment to excellence and the ambition to push beyond boundaries. A pioneering mindset, diligence and continuous research are the driving force behind the project.
The two brands share a vision of performance achieved through method, discipline and the ability to challenge established solutions, where every choice is measured, every detail verified and every result becomes the foundation for the next stage of evolution.
A method-driven technical partnership
The Ferrari Hypersail project is a testing ground for extreme innovation: a monohull designed for offshore endurance races, in which every component is developed as part of an integrated system.
Within this framework, Boero Yacht Coatings contributes to the development of a complete coating system engineered to operate under maximum stress conditions and fully integrated into the vessel’s performance architecture.
The challenge is not simply to protect the surface, but to rethink each application in terms of overall performance. Thickness optimisation becomes a decisive factor from this perspective, reducing weight without compromising durability and control.
The premium top coat, used as the finishing layer of the entire coating system, plays a strategic role, acting as the interface between engineering and the environment, between technology and the sea. Making each layer thinner while preserving its full effectiveness helps to optimise the entire system in a vessel designed to fly over the water.
The solutions adopted represent an evolution of the brand’s flagship technologies, developed to operate in an advanced experimental scenario where every gram and every micron directly affect the final result.

Marco G. Ribigini, Ferrari Hypersail Team Leader:
“Ferrari Hypersail was created to explore new frontiers of performance based on a fully integrated engineering approach. Against this backdrop, our collaboration with Boero Yacht Coatings has allowed us to develop and integrate a complete coating system, designed to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability under the extreme conditions in which the vessel will operate. Method, discipline and attention to detail are values shared by both Ferrari and Boero.”
João Serrenho, CEO and President of CIN Coatings, parent company of Gruppo Boero:
“The partnership with Ferrari on the Hypersail project represents the convergence of two industrial cultures geared towards research and continuous improvement. We share an approach based on precision and responsibility. The experience gained through this project strengthens our heritage of expertise and reinforces our capacity to bring tangible innovation to the market.”
The Ferrari Hypersail project marks the beginning of a journey focused on continuous experimentation and the sharing of expertise between complementary industrial domains. The convergence of method and ambition opens up a new phase of development aimed at generating value well beyond a single race.
