Mylor-based Cockwells Modern & Classic Boatbuilding has achieved yet another coveted industry award – this time, for the ultra-luxurious Titian Tender that the company launched to critical acclaim at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.

Choosing a new boat from the hundreds of craft on the market can be a bewildering process so every year, Motor Boat & Yachting magazine endeavours to make that task easier by refining the market into nine categories and picking one winner in each from a shortlist of finalists.

The Titian Tender was one of six exceptional designs to have been nominated in the Superboats category, and achieved Highly Commended at the magazine’s 2019 Motor Boat of the Year Awards ceremony at the Corinthia Hotel in London’s Whitehall on Tuesday 7 May 2019.

The Titian Tender is a modern masterpiece of artisan craftsmanship and technical ingenuity that combines durable composites with the resilience of yellow cedar and the sleekness of teak.

“The ambition of this gem of a boat yard is a joy to see,” commented the judging panel, which also described the Titian Tender as ‘a custom-built masterpiece’. “Here, a flawless handcrafted wooden hull meets exhilarating water jet propulsion,” the panel added.

Fusing the time-honoured traditions of the shipwright with modern materials and technological techniques to create the ultimate in luxury for ten guests, this custom build is based on a concept by Redman Whiteley Dixon.

With an interior designed by Cullum Bespoke, who bring expertise in luxe car design to the mix, this superlative craft was created by Cockwells’ in-house design team for an internationally-respected multimedia artist.

From the contemporary chic of the Corian galley to the copper-infused caulking, intricate carpentry and silk panels adorned with original fine art, the Titian Tender exudes elegance at every turn.

Created very much with the Mediterranean in mind, it takes only a moment of cruising at 30 knots to locate your favourite anchorage and enjoy a blissful afternoon in sumptuous style. Deploy the self-launching anchor and the automated Bimini to create your very own shaded island. With easy access to the bathing platform, immerse yourself in the azure blue waters and head for the hot water deck shower as soon as you are back on board. Relax in the spacious sunbathing area with an ice-cold drink from the fridge or join friends and family in the cockpit for a delicious lunch prepared in the galley.

“For the Titian Tender to have won the post-1980s category of the Concours d'Elégance in Cannes in the autumn was immensely pleasing, but I am equally pleased that she has achieved Highly Commended in this hotly-contested industry awards scheme, closer to home, following Motor Boat & Yachting’s rigorous sea trial and testing by the magazine’s technical experts,” comments Founder and Managing Director, Dave Cockwell. “Cockwells reputation for elevating the traditional skills of the artisan boatbuilder to meet the needs of the most discerning clients continues to gather momentum and to have received this accolade is further evidence of that.”
