HAMBURG, Germany (Sept. 7, 2016) – Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) is pleased to announce the release of the C Command Elite Plus classed panel system for the company’s most powerful engine to-date – the QSK95. C Command is a modular selection of instrumentation and control panels engineered to help marine operators protect and enhance engine operation and manage operating costs, by logging critical operating parameters and providing diagnostic information.

All components of the C Command system are intended for use in rugged marine environments. This means that enclosures are built to combat vessel vibration, humidity and ambient conditions in both the pilot house and engine room. Each display is easily configurable, and allows for flexible data presentation. During development, additional focus was placed on designing quality panels that are readable in variable lighting conditions.

All connections on the QSK95 are centralized in a Customer Interface Box (CIB), which helps simplify vessel installation. The CIB contains all Electronic Control Module (ECM) connections, start/stop logic, emergency stop button and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) connections. From the CIB, engine data can be viewed on the C Command panel system, or sent to a centralized vessel management system via J1939 datalink or Modbus.® To accommodate higher power requirements and filter incoming power, this CIB is larger than that available with the QSK19, QSK38, QSK50 and QSK60.

C Command Elite Plus panels feature full-color text and graphics in a menu-driven format that can display multiple languages to accommodate multinational crews. The integrated control panel also logs a comprehensive history of alarms and faults, for more efficient troubleshooting and proactive service scheduling that can be easily downloaded via an Ethernet connection.

Operators have multiple options for remote monitoring, including a soft button control panel for start/stop and alarm acknowledgement, and a remote control panel. The remote digital interface features a large configurable touchscreen with superior visibility, even in direct sunlight.

C Command Elite Plus includes most Classification Society-mandated sensors, alarms and shutdowns. The added benefit is a globally supported and fully classed engine, electronics and safety system that protect against the substantial risk of noncompliance. The system is fully approved by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), with additional society approvals under review.

Not only does the C Command system provide valuable insight into the engine’s operation, but the information available helps marine operators manage life-cycle costs. Actual fuel consumption can pinpoint optimal speed, for the best possible fuel efficiency. Load factor and operating hours may be used to calculate estimates of overall engine life and help plan for maintenance and service events. That data, coupled with the advanced diagnostic features from the ECM, delivers the means to maximize engine performance and minimize unplanned downtime.

C Command panel systems are fully supported by the Cummins global service network. All are backed by Cummins industry-leading QuickServe® program. Cummins QuickServe® offers factory-certified technicians, the most sophisticated diagnostic and repair tools in the industry and the largest international parts and service network of any engine manufacturer. Additionally, the panel systems are covered by a standard comprehensive one-year warranty that is both transferable and valid at any Cummins-authorized marine outlet worldwide.

Earlier today, Cummins announced the first QSK95 marine installation at the Shipbuilding, Machinery and Marine Technology (SMM) trade fair. The launch of the QSK95 – Cummins newest, largest and most powerful engine to-date – has increased the company’s marine power range by 50 percent. The QSK95, along with the new C Command Elite Plus display panels, will be on display at SMM in Hamburg, Germany through Sept. 9, where customers can speak with product experts and obtain additional product information in Hall A4, Stand No. 208.
