Fahri Çetinkaya is an international tile and ceramics artist, whose works are exhibited in over 40 countries from China to USA, Japan and Switzerland, and who has carried the art of tile and ceramics a step further with his collections he based on Piri Reis, Matrakçi Nasuh and Orkhon Inscriptions. His extraordinary pieces of art now have been exhibited in the Maritime Exhibition Center Palmarina Bodrum. The perfectness of his art lies beneath the fact that using very rare special techniques on his works and each piece of his collections are unique by size and concept.
With applying underglazing, after then applying the decoration directly to the bisque with a brush, colouring it with metaloxide paint and lastly glazing and frying the big size compact tiles, which need extraordinary care and attention during the throughout the process taking approximately 250 hours of work per piece comes from his deep interest in Ottoman history. So he has made the collection of 59 large pieces titled Secrets of Piri Reis Under Glaze named ‘My Name is Soil’.
