The Hemsleys, this issue’s cheerful cover stars, are happily immersed in both the sailing and motorboating worlds, dispelling any myths of tension between the two factions. The couple chat to The Superyacht Owner about their experiences aboard their 30m Feadship La Mascarade and their classic sailing yacht Mariquita – and hint at plans that they are likely to eventually move in the direction of a larger sailing boat.

We also chat to Brian O’Sullivan, owner of 41m Komokwa, who took the radical step of securing his own master’s ticket for a circumnavigation. At the time of writing he was planning the ‘second leg’ of the tour heading to the Caribbean, the US eastern seaboard up to Nova Scotia, Cuba, Cartagena, through the Panama Canal, to Costa Rica and all the way back to Vancouver a year later.
