Cecil Wright & Partners launches pioneering brokerage tool

Cecil Wright & Partners, the superyacht brokerage firm, has launched a new sales tool that utilises a unique laser scanning system in order to create accurate walk-throughs of its available vessels. This system has first been used on Kingdom Come, the 60.5m Feadship motoryacht.

“This is an evolution of the brokerage market,” starts Henry Smith, sales broker at Cecil Wright & Partners. “It is the direction the world is moving in and this technology will soon be used to purchase many things, not just yachts.”

The system, which was originally used for land-based real estate, is a product of Space 2 Scan and can be used as an architectural tool as well as a sales tool. Beyond producing realistic images of the vessel in question, the system also provides accurate measurements that can be used by designers and architects to embark on refit projects and other design works. For vessels like Kingdom Come, which predate computer-aided design, the tool is particularly useful.

“This is a system that will help every single individual involved in yachting whether it be a buyer, a seller, a broker, a designer or a shipyard.” continues Smith. Because this system represents a technological advancement, its use may not be for everyone. However, it may go some way towards tapping into the mobile nature of millennial purchases, a marketing median that has been sorely lacking in the superyacht industry thus far.

To date, the technologies that have promised similar results have required such large file sizes that they have actually fallen short of the audience they were attempting to reach. However, Cecil Wright & Partner’s new system requires nothing more than 3G access to run smoothly and it may be accessed equally through Android and IOS devices, as well as the more conventional desktop and laptop routes.

“We have put this technology in the hands of a few [owners], just to sample, and we have had a large number of them say they want to use the technology,” explains Smith. “The other thing is, that compared with a professional photographer, this technology is cost effective and only requires 6-8 hours to complete.”

Cecil Wright will now use this technology in as many yacht sales as possible in order to enable potential buyers to initially understand the space planning, internal configuration and decorative finish before setting foot on the yacht and, in doing so, save precious time for their clients.
