Evolution’s Guide to the Spanish superyacht experience

Evolution Yacht Agents provides a comprehensive guide for yachts cruising in Spanish waters…

Due to the current political climate in Europe, a number of Schengen countries have reintroduced border controls, which is impacting the way superyachts move and operate around the Med. Therefore, yacht agents are playing a more important role than ever in providing yachts with a full picture of what will be required when entering a new port. As a result of the growing variety of entrance formalities across European countries, Evolution Yacht Agents has put together a concise and informative guide to clarify the practicalities of cruising in Spain for superyacht captains and crew.

“Boats larger than 24m will now have to provide a notification of arrival to the Port Captain’s office when entering Spanish ports, as well as complying with other local requirements and any additional paperwork,” the Guide explains. “This hasn’t yet been enforced in all Spanish ports, but it is now effective in Barcelona and Ibiza, for example. Also, when the yacht is carrying more than 12 passengers, it will have to request a special permission for anchorage.”

The Guide goes on to include further guidance regarding yacht clearance when entering Spanish waters and crew immigration clearance in Spanish ports, as well as recommending a number of cruise itineraries through Spanish superyacht destinations, secret mooring spots and information regarding anchoring regulations. The Guide, which is a must read for captains and crews on yachts cruising in Spain, will appear in the next issue of The Crew Report, and is also available to download online here.
