MYBA Superyacht Chefs’ Competition

We bring you the highlights from the 2017 competition in pictures…

The 2017 MYBA Superyacht Chefs’ Competition, held from 24 to 27 April at the MYBA Charter show, saw some fierce competition as participating chefs were judged by a star studded panel of judges. 

Competing in three different yacht-size categories, the chefs were expected to prepare a three-course lunch or dinner with several guidelines. The starter had to be seafood incorporating saffron, the main course had to include fish and rice, and the dessert had to be sugar free and chefs were only allowed to use natural sugar substitutes such as honey or agave.

The judging criteria was based on originality, creativity, taste, presentation, execution, technique and overall impression. After careful deliberation, the judges announced the list of winning chefs below.

Yachts 56m and over 

1st place - Dean Conbeer, M/Y ICON

2nd place - Lee Easdon, M/Y Nero

3rd place - Simon Phillips,  M/Y Double Down

Yachts from 40m to 54m?

1st place - Mikeldi Corcuera, M/Y MQ2

2nd place - James Perry, M/Y Nassima

3rd place - Spiro Pavlic, M/Y Pride 

Yachts up to 39m

1st place - Jean Mathee, S/Y Twilight

2nd place - Daniel Wilbor, M/Y Takara

3rd place - Mark Rostant, M/Y Cheetah Moon
