Week in Superyacht Brokerage: sales continue while reductions lessen

The sales of 'Moonraker' and 'Black Shark of St Peter' saw sales figures remain stable. Despite five additions to an already increasing sales fleet, the week's two reductions were the smallest number seen in 2012.…

This week’s brokerage activity focused on smaller yachts, with only three superyachts listed this week above 30m. The week dating 28 February - 5 March 2012 saw an increase in the number of yachts available for sale, with the new central agencies sector seeing most activity this week with five announcements. Two superyacht sales and two reductions, though, showed reassuring levels of brokerage activity for those yachts already on the market.

Superyacht Sales

This week two superyachts were sold, though both under 30m. The first was Cape 4 Yachting’s sale of Pershing’s 2008 motoryacht, the 24.5m Moonraker.

The second sale was that of the 24.7m sailing yacht Black Shark of St Peter. The 1982 Royal Huisman was asking €439,000 when it was sold by CSO Yacht Sales.

New Central Agencies

With five new listings announced, the number of yachts available for sale in 2012 continues to increase.

The largest new listing was Feadship’s 53.5m Kisses. The 2000 motoryacht is a new joint listing with Merle Wood & Associates and Camper & Nicholsons, and is asking $34.9 million.

Gaspard Yachts announced it will handle the sale of Arno’s 2001 26.8m motoryacht Coca VI, asking €1.595 million, whilst Ocean Independence has been appointed central agent for the sale of the 24.4m Overmarine Speedy T. The 1994 motoryacht, refit last year, is asking €950,000.

Elsewhere, Floating Life announced it will handle the sale of the 24.4m Ferretti motoryacht Inspiration B, whilst De Valk announced it had taken over the central listing of the 26.8m Blue Titan from Northrop & Johnson, a 1988 U.S. Yacht Building Group sailing yacht, refit in 2002 and 2004.

Price Reductions

This week saw a promising two reductions, the fewest seen so far in 2012.

Cape 4 Yachting announced the first reduction this week. Inrizzardi’s 2007 motoryacht Celeste has been reduced by €850,000. Having undergone the largest reduction this week, the 31m motoryacht is now asking €2.95 million.

The second reduction this week was announced by Ocean Independence. The 39m motoryacht Moonmaiden II was reduced by $200,000 to $1.75 million. This is the second reduction of the 1975 Denizcilik motoryacht in 2012.
