Week in Superyacht Brokerage: sales continue as reductions soar
The week dating 29 May- 4 June 2012 saw three superyacht sales, including the 41m 'Blink' and Vicem Yachts' Vulcan 46 due for delivery later this month, but despite steady sales activity price reductions were on the up this week as 20 were announced.…
The week that saw us enter the month of June saw huge levels of activity, notably in the new central agency (14) and price reduction (20) arenas. Only three sales were announced in the week dating 29 May – 4 June 2012, with two over 40m, one of which is under construction and due for delivery later this month.
Superyacht Sales
This week three superyacht sales were announced – two motoryachts and one sailing yacht. The largest was Fraser Yachts’ sale of Vicem Yachts’ Vulcan 46 motoryacht. The 46m motoryacht, who had an asking price of $27 million, is under construction and due for delivery at the end of June 2012.
OceanStyle and Thierry Voisin sold their joint listing, Cantieri di Pisa’s 41m Blink. The 2009 motoryacht was asking €12.5 million at the time of sale.
The third sale of the week was of the 29m sailing yacht Ameena. The 2004 Jongert was sold by Ocean Independence and was asking €5.25 million at the time of sale.
New Central Agencies
Fourteen new central agencies were announced this week – 11 motoryachts and three sailing yachts.
Burger Yacht Sales announced the largest new addition to the sales fleet this week, which also happened to be the yacht with the lowest asking price: Camper and Nicholsons’ 54m 1937 motoryacht Malahne, refit in 1984 and 2008, is asking €550,000.
Other large additions included two sailing yachts: Archipelago Yacht’s 40m Modern Classic due for delivery in 2013, for sale through the shipyard and asking €7.9 million, and Baltic Yachts’ 43m 2003 Canica, for sale through Fraser Yachts and asking €11.75 million.
In addition to Canica, Fraser Yachts were appointed central agent for five motoryachts: Royal Denship’s 38m 2001 Betty (refit in 2008) is asking $7.9 million, JFA’s 37m 2003 Zeepard (refit in 2010) is asking €12 million in a joint listing with Ocean Independence, Benetti’s 36.6m 2008 Kai is asking $13.4 million, Azimut’s 30m 1997 Mi Cielo (refit this year) is back on the market after receiving a new engine and is asking $2.25 million, and AB Yachts’ 27m 2005 Kereon is asking €2.35 million.
As well as the brokerage house’s joint listing with Fraser Yachts, Ocean Independence has also been appointed joint central agent with Gaspard Yachts for WGB Werft Berlin’s 34m 1991 (refit in 2010) motoryacht Alter Ego, asking €3.95 million, and will also handle the sale of the 29m 1992 (refit in 2007) motoryacht Georgie Rose, asking €950,000.
Edmiston announced it will handle the sale of Far Ocean and Bolero Yachts’ 32.5m 1991 (refit in 2001) sailing yacht Bolero, asking €3.95, while International Yacht Collection has been appointed central agent for Ferretti’s 34m 2004 motoryacht Mambo, asking $6.8 million.
Elsewhere, Y.CO and SuperYachtsMonaco announced its joint listing of Leopard's 27m 2006 motoryacht Bembik, asking €1.7 million, and Allied Marine announced it will handle the sale of Baia’s 24.4m 1998 motoryacht Thunder, asking $1.05 million.
Price Reductions
This week an enormous 20 price reductions took place, however just four reductions reached or overtook the €1 million mark – an improvement on previous weeks. Eighteen motoryachts and two sailing yachts comprised this week’s figure.
The largest superyacht to be reduced this week also saw the largest reduction. Burgess announced a currency change from euros to dollars on Cammenga Jachtbouw’s 57m 1978 (refit in 2008) motoryacht S Cape, resulting in a reduction of approximately $3.619 million to reach its new asking price of $15 million.
Following suit, the second largest superyacht to be reduced saw the second largest reduction. Northrop & Johnson announced the $3.05 million reduction of Trinity Yachts’ 49m 2008 motoryacht Destination Fox Harb’r Too, now asking $19.95 million. The brokerage house also announced two further reductions this week: the $1 million reduction of Feadship’s 43m 1987 (refit in 2008) motoryacht Kingfisher, a joint listing with Burgess, to $7.75 million, and the much smaller $10,000 reduction of Mangusta’s 28m 2008 motoryacht My Kampai to $3.895 million.
Other large motoryachts that were reduced this week included RJC Yacht Sales listing of Christensen’s 41m 2000 (refit in 2008) Atlantica, down by $1 million to $10.9 million, and Cape4yachting’s joint listing with Fraser Yachts of Codecasa’s 41m 1994 Ouranos Too, down by €1 million to €5.5 million.
Fraser Yachts also reduced an additional three motoryachts: Danish Yacht’s 35m 2006 Moon Goddess by $500,000 to $6.5 million, Crescent’s 34.75m 1997 Anchor W by $500,000 to $2.995 million, and Moonen’s 26m 2006 Far Niente by €120,000 to €3.78 million
Another Far Niente was reduced this week: Camper & Nicholsons reduced Hatteras' 35m 1997 motoryacht by $150,000 to $4.8 million.
Dahm International reduced two of its sailing yachts this week: Heli Yachts’ 35m 1998 Galatea by €250,000 to €2.5 million, and Jongert’s 27m 2003 Sea Rose Star by €500,000 to €3.95 million. Worth Avenue Yachts also reduced two of its motoryachts: Pacific Mariner’s 26m 2005 Surya by $295,000 to $2.9 million, and Azimut’s 35.4m 2010 Cinque Star saw its fourth reduction in one month, this time reduced by $500,000 to $8.495 million.
Elsewhere, OceanStyle and Burgess reduced their joint listing of Benetti’s 35m 2004 motoryacht Stilvi III by €1 million to €5.5 million, Ocean Independence reduced Ocea’s 32.7m 2008 motoryacht Paolyre by €500,000 to €4.4 million, and K&K Superyachts reduced Ocean Pacifico’s 38m 2000 motoryacht Callista by €300,000 to €4.95 million. Meanwhile, Ardell reduced Kha Shing’s 30.5m 2002 motoryacht Victoria 5 by $400,000 to $3.5 million, Gilman Yachts reduced Horizon’s 25m 2005 motoryacht Wishes Granted by $155,000 to $2.195 million, and Huish Marine Group reduced Broward’s 30.5m 1997 (refit in 2011) motoryacht Quiet Place by $120,000 to $2.12 million.
