The week dating 14 – 20 February 2012 saw three superyacht sales amid preparations for the Miami International Boat Show that took place on 16-20 February. Amid the preparations, and throughout the event itself, price reduction announcements came through continuously at a total of 18. Perhaps a tool to draw prospective buyers to the show, this week’s high levels of price reductions should not overshadow the positive news of this week’s three superyacht sales

Yacht Sales

Three superyacht sales were announced this week: motoryachts Keiki Kai, My Petra and Rhino.

Fraser Yachts boasted two of this week’s sales. The 30.48m Keiki Kai, a 2005 Benetti refit in 2010 was asking $5.95 million when Oceanstyle introduced the buyer, whilst the 44m My Petra, a 2009 Heesen, was asking $22.75 million at the time of sale.

Blue Water Yachting also sold the 26.4m Rhino, a Riva built just last year, asking €5 million at the time of sale.

With a cumulative length of 100.88m, this week’s three yacht sales add to last week’s promising sales activity.

New Central Agencies

This week 8 motoryachts were added to an already-extensive list of yachts available for sale.

Fraser Yachts was appointed central agent for 2 superyachts, one of which was the largest involved in brokerage activity this week. The 60.66m Meduse, a 1996 Feadship, is back on the market after being removed in December 2011, and is asking $34.5 million. The second was the 33m Blue Wave, a 2008 Elegan asking €3.25 million.

Price Reductions

Including the above reduction of the joint listing of Samara B, this week saw a high of 18 price reductions, a likely publicity tool for yachts at the Miami International Boat Show.

Allied Marine reduced three of its motoryachts this week. The 27.4m Outta Touch, a 2001 Intermarine, was reduced by $200,000 to $3.395 million, whilst the 24m Ferretti My Sharon was reduced to $2.5 million. The 26.8m Incognito, a 2002 Pershing, was also reduced this week, down by $199,000 to $2.15 million.

Ocean Independence also reduced three of its motoryachts. The 32m Aslec 3, a 2007 Castagnola Cantieri Navali, has been reduced by €500,000 to €3.245 million, whilst the 26.95m Aspricaion, a 2003 Pershing, has been reduced by €505,000 to €995,000. Elsewhere, the reductions on motoryachts came from a mixture of brokerage houses. Gaspard Yachts reduced the 36.5m Firouzeh, a 2007 ISA, by €500,000 to €6.9 million, whilst Kardinal reduced the 35.05m Miarcle, a 2000 Kha Shing refit in 2009, by $200,000 to $4.195 million.

Both reductions were the second for each yacht in just two months.

Shalimar was the only superyacht reduced by International Yacht Collection this week

This week Fraser Yachts reduced the 50m Mia Elise, a 2010 Trinity, by a significant $2 million to $31.5 million, the largest reduction this week. It was, however, K&K Superyachts who reduced the only sailing yacht involved in brokerage activity this week. The 28.5m Kim, a 2003 Wally refit in 2009, was reduced by €1 million to €4.9 million.
