VSY pre-launches 72m superyacht 'Stella Maris'

VSY - Viareggio Superyachts has pre-launched its 72m motoryacht 'Stella Maris' at the yard's Viareggio facility. She will remain at the facility for the coming weeks before she takes to the water with her owner, before heading to the Monaco Yacht Show later this year.…

On Saturday 23 June 2012, VSY - Viareggio Superyachts presented its 72m superyacht Stella Maris at a pre-launch ceremony in the yard’s Viareggio facility. Sharing the celebrations with the yard and its workers were Viareggio’s local authorities, all of whom collaborated with VSY over the months of construction of this project.

Stella Maris has been designed by Espen Øino and Laurent Giles Naval Architects, and features staggered internal decks, an original form of bow, certified helideck, a sundeck that converts into an entertainment space, and a large beach area near the water, as well as having house-plants spanning the deck. Her interior has been commissioned by Michela Reverberi.

Luciano Scaramuccia, managing director of VSY, declared that the impressive 72m Stella Maris had been conceived alongside the yard’s values of reflecting the fusion of avant-garde technology and Italian craftsmanship, whilst maintaining a respect for the environment. As a result, Scaramuccia has crowned her the most important yacht of this size built in the Italian city of Viareggio in the last 30 years.

Stella Maris
is 10m larger than the shipyard’s two 2009 constructions, the 62m Candyscape II and RoMa, and will be 8m larger than the shipyard’s current project, the 64m Duchess of Tuscany II, expected to launch in 2013.

Stella Maris is now standing in the square in front of the VSY shipyard, illuminated by multi-colour lights (from Targetti of Florence) at night for the admiration of those lucky enough to witness the superyacht. She will remain there for the coming weeks until she is transferred on a floating pontoon to the Arsenal in La Spezia where she will see her official launch. Following this she will take to the water with her owner until September when she will no doubt catch the attention of many at the Monaco Yacht Show.

Specifications of Stella Maris:
LOA: 72.1m
Beam: 12.6m
Draught: 3.7m
Naval architect: Laurent Giles Naval Architects
Exterior design: Espen Øino
Interior design: Michael Reverbert
