Pendennis Plus completes 'Virginian' refit

The Pendennis Plus shipyard in Falmouth has completed its refit of the 62.2m motoryacht 'Virginian.' The four-month refit began just after the completion of the yard's refit on the 71m 'Dona Amélia', and is to be followed by a major refit of a sailing yacht.…

The 62.2m superyacht Virginian has left Falmouth having completed a four-month refit at Pendennis Plus.

The refit of the 1990 Feadship motoryacht, originally designed by De Voogt Naval Architechts, began in November 2011, just after the departure of the 71m Dona Amélia, the largest superyacht to be refit in Pendennis history.

Virginian’s refit included general maintenance work, minor interior modifications, a topside repaint, installation of new Naiad Zero Speed stabilisers, and an annual survey.

With the completed refits of the 71m Dona Amélia and the 62.2m Virginian, Pendennis Plus in Falmouth is seeing much activity in the large yacht sector. “We have had an increasing number of enquiries for 60m+ sailing and motoryacht refits and bespoke new builds over the past few months,” said Stephen Hills, managing director of Pendennis Plus. “The experience within the Pendennis Plus team, coupled with the world class Falmouth facilities and strong in-house trades, are providing to be a winning combination.”

Following the departure of Virgininan, Pendennis Plus will begin a major sailing yacht refit.
