Wim Van der Valk signs first superyacht order

The order for a 33.3m yacht in the Dutch yard's 'Continental III' series is the first yacht of superyacht dimensions.…

Wim Van der Valk shipyard in the Netherlands has announced its biggest project ever, with the signing of an order for a 33.3m yacht from its Continental Trawler range.

From the Continental III series of yachts, the 33.3m is a 'milestone' according to the shipyard, which has previously built yachts up to a maximum of 26m in the same series.

The new yacht will feature a completely custom built exterior and interior. Built on a tri-level design, she has a large sundeck area on the front deck and a saloon on the middle or main deck where the large dining area and kitchen are also located. Fly bridge is on the upper deck and there is a separate wheelhouse halfway between this and the main deck level.

She has twin Volvo Penta D16-MH MGX5170DC engines giving speeds of 479kW at 1.800 RPM.

The announcement was made as part of a three order windfall seen at the yard in one week. Other orders were for smaller yachts, a 23m and a 20m.

Delivery for the 33.3m Continental III is scheduled for April 2015.
