After six years of publishing our specialist crew magazine and website, The Crew Report and www.thecrewreport.com, we have made the very difficult decision to stop publishing the magazine and close the website and withdraw it from the market.

But only for six weeks…

In September 2012 during the busy show season and after the key cruising season, we will deliver to the market and our loyal audience, a complete re-launch of this key part of our product portfolio. We have watched the crew market shift and evolve over the past few years and seen a myriad of products attempt to deliver something the crew audience can read and adopt as their media of choice. However after launching The Superyacht Owner magazine and having listened to the common response from owners that crew can in fact create more headaches and problems in their world, in some cases making them lose faith in the industry, we have decided to work hard on creating a new media proposition that will inspire, inform and educate today’s and tomorrow’s superyacht crew.

The new product will be brought to market, with a view to building stability and professionalism throughout the service sector of the large yacht market. Our focus will shift towards training, career development and professionalism, but with a very serious editorial approach. With some 50,000 crew in the market today, operating on and off some 5000 yachts, it is critical that not only do we focus the industry on building the best career opportunities for young and energetic people, but when they are in the market they truly appreciate the job they have to do. It is not a short term seasonal job for one or two years, but a five, ten or twenty year career that is a great place for professionals to really develop into influential and powerful advisors to owners of the future.

We anticipate that the vast majority of our audience will truly appreciate the new approach and professional focus of The “New” Crew Report. It will be advisory, supportive and guiding, filling a niche that we feel exists in the market, becoming a conduit between owners, managers, the authorities, senior captains and other leading experts who want to see the world’s superyacht crew grow in quality and professionalism. When you see the new Crew portfolio, we are confident that you will understand our vision and thinking, in upgrading and refitting the smallest product in our range of professional media. It may not have lots of pictures of crew smiling and having a good time, but for those who want to grow, develop and make a serious career out of our growing industry, then The “New” Crew Report will become a vital part of that process.

Having predicted that over the next decade we could see another 1500 or so yachts arrive on the market and with vessels getting bigger and more complex, the need for more crew, perhaps some 20,000 more will become part of our focus and strategy, combining The “New” Crew Report with our soon to be re-launched web portal www.SuperyachtJobs.com. Over the coming weeks more announcements will be made in the countdown to our next phase of product investment in this our 20th Anniversary year.
