The Anthropology Approach at The Superyacht Design Forum

Francesca Muzio will be discussing socio-cultural paradigms and their impact on the design process…

To understand design is to understand human values and create the ultimate client experience. On the first afternoon of The Superyacht Design Forum, co-founder of FM Architettura d'interni, Francesca Muzio, will offer a profound exploration of the relationship between interiors and our human make-up, and will discuss socio-cultural paradigms and their impact on the design process.

Muzio holds an MSc of Architecture from the Universities of Genoa and Barcelona and a postgraduate Master in Business Administration and Marketing from Alma Mater University of Bologna. Her formative experiences in the luxury and superyacht design industry were gained with studios such as Renzo Piano, Arch. Giacomo Mortola of P&O Princess Cruises in L.A., and with CRN as their Creative Director of the Interior Design Department ,where she oversaw the design and construction of 112 superyachts.

In 2009 she co-founded FM Architettura d’Interni with Maria Silvia Orlandini with the idea of offering something different to the industry. Using the ethos ‘I am my home’, the studio has managed interior design projects in over 20 different countries with clients from multiple cultures and backgrounds, each with their own treasured idea of home.

From superyachts and luxury hotels to high-end developments and private residences, the studio has become known for their adept understanding and project management, as well as their bespoke and handcrafted solutions. The studio, continuing to grow and oversee all aspects of project development is now in the process of developing an artisan village to better serve clients with unique bespoke solutions and in keeping traditional craft methods thriving and innovating.

The Superyacht Design Forum will take place at the Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour on 26 and 27 June. The full programme is available here, and you can purchase your tickets here.
