Superyacht Intelligence Economic Analysis available online
The full, unabridged analysis which first appeared in The Superyacht Report is now available to download. The Analysis is expected to provide the tools the industry needs to demonstrate its economic worth.…
The result of six months intensive research by the Superyacht Intelligence Agency, steered by editor Ellie Brade and Superyacht Group strategy director Pedro Muller, with input from the superyacht industry and country associations, the study is the most comprehensive research available on the superyacht industry today.
Created first and foremost in response to the industry’s needs - which reached its zenith at the American Superyacht Forum 2011 when the industry made a collective call for a study of this kind - it is also a timely answer to the needs and realities of today. As governments are making crucial decisions on which sectors to boost or make cuts in funding and who and what to tax, Superyacht Intelligence’s Economic Analysis shows where the industry stands in real terms on the international stage of money making and job creation.
Here is a snapshot of some of the most insightful findings.
- Superyacht industry’s contribution to the economy in 2010: €24 billion
- Jobs created by the superyacht industry: worth Euros €5.99 billion annually
- Jobs created by the superyacht industry (land based): 130,000 - 150,000 jobs
- Number of contractor / day worker jobs – up to 100,000 jobs
EASI's findings show that there is a group of countries where the representation of superyacht business is particularly significant.
USA takes the lion share of any individual country assessed as figure 2 shows here, at 19.6% followed by the United Kingdom at 8.9% Other countries (which are listed in the online version of the analysis) represent 27%
Figure 6 shows the percentage of the superyacht industry that each category of superyacht business represents in numbers of businesses. Suppliers and manufacturers are the leading industry sector with 40.8% share of business worldwide.
The Superyacht Intelligence Agency envisages EASI as a long term project. Although the study is extensive in scope and thorough in detail, work will continually be added to the economic impact page of SuperyachtIntelligence.com. Ellie Brade, editor of Superyacht Intelligence explained:
"Our objective is to continue to compile and maintain an insightful evidence base on the superyacht industry. With the industry's assistance our work to date will be continuously added to, both online at SuperyachtIntelligence.com and in future print editions, and we encourage the industry to visit the economic impact page of SuperyachtIntelligence.com as regularly as possible."
