Week in Superyacht Brokerage: market stabilises amid sale of 'Cartouche'

The week dating 20-26 March 2012, which saw the sale of the 28m motoryacht 'Cartouche', saw no new central agency announcements. With no additions to the fleet of yachts available for sale, despite ongoing reductions, the market is beginning to stabilise.…

Despite 14 price reductions, the week dating 20-26 March 2012 saw a step in the right direction. One sale was reported this week, and with no new central agencies it seems the industry is focusing on selling the superyachts already on the market, rather than adding to an already-extensive fleet of superyachts available for sale.

Superyacht Sales

One superyacht was sold this week. Couach’s 28m motoryacht Cartouche was sold by Gaspard Yachts. The 2005 build was asking €1.49 million at her time of sale.

New Central Agencies

No new central agency announcements were made this week. With so many superyachts already on the market, this week of no new additions means brokers, sellers, and prospective buyers can focus on those already on the market, and with less competition we can hope that future weeks will see fewer reductions.

Price Reductions

Unfortunately, despite no new additions to the fleet of yachts available for sale, this week saw 14 price reductions.

This week International Yacht Collection reduced the 31.7m Sharon Ann twice. The 2005 Destiny motoryacht began the week with an asking price of $5.4 million, and ended the week at $4.9 million after two reductions of $150,000 and $50,000.

Sharon Ann was reduced twice this week by International Yacht Collection, her reductions totalling $500,000.

International Yacht Collection reduced two additional motoryachts this week. The 25.6m 2007 Lazzara Finish Line was reduced by $92,000 to $3.295 million, while another Lazzara, the 28m 2009 New Life, a new central agency for International Yacht Collection in January 2012, was reduced by $500,000 to $4.75 million.

This week some large yachts saw some large reductions. Bradford Yacht Sales reduced Feadship’s 1985 motoryacht The Highlander by $1.905 million to $5.995 million. At 46m The Highlander is the largest superyacht involved in brokerage activity this week.

Chamberlain Yachts International
also suggested potential buyers of the 1996 Cheoy Lee motoryacht, the 44.2m Summerwind, try offers in the region of $3 million, amounting to a reduction of $1.95 million – the largest reduction this week – while YPI reduced the 45m 2001 Bilgin motoryacht Tatiana by €400,000 to €14.5 million.

Fraser Yachts
reduced three of its motoryachts this week. The largest, the 31m 2007 Ferretti Custom Line, Maria II Of London, was reduced by €210,000 to €3.99 million, while the smaller 27m 2008 Ferretti Aurora Dignitatis was reduced by $800,000 to $5 million. Also reduced by Fraser Yachts this week was the 29m 2003 Sunseeker Once Around. Last reduced in January 2012, this week she was reduced by $300,000 to $2.65 million.

Worth Avenue Yachts reduced two motoryachts this week. The 38.1m Namoh, a 2003 Cheoy Lee, was reduced by $300,000 to $12.4 million, and the 26.5m Blue Star, a 1987 Burger, was reduced by $200,000 to $1.25 million.

Elsewhere, Ardell reduced the 24.4m motoryacht Lora, a 2002 Northern Marine, by $155,000 to $3.795 million, while Merle Wood & Associates reduced the 24m Lelanta, the only sailing yacht involved in brokerage activity this week. The 1930 sailing yacht, refit in 2002, has been reduced by $100,000 to a new price of $$795,000.
