Turkish shipyard Sunrise Yachts has signed a contract for a 56m superyacht. The diesel-electric motoryacht, known as Project Sunrise #561, has been designed by Espen Øino, with interiors by Franck Darnet, and is scheduled for delivery in 2015.

The sale was brokered by Fernando Nicholson of Camper & Nicholsons, who advised Project #561’s South-American owner. The experienced yachtsman intends to devote more of his time to extended cruising, and the circumnavigation-designed superyacht will allow the owner to achieve this.

The diesel-electronic option was suggested by the shipyard, and with reduced sound and vibration, as well as increased performance in terms of fuel-efficiency and maneuverability, the yacht, according to Sunrise Yachts, “will offer a level of comfort rarely seen in luxury yachts of this category.”

The Antalya-based shipyard has described the Espen Øino designed yacht as having “a fairly aggressive exterior styling”. Though essentially a custom yacht, Project Sunrise #561 elaborates on the design concept of the shipyard’s 50m design developed with Espen Øino and Franck Darnet. The four-deck motoryacht, with steel hull and aluminum superstructure, will feature indoor/outdoor spaces on the main deck and bridge deck, with the use of much natural light, whilst the fourth deck will feature a panoramic master suite and a large observation lounge. A particularly notable design feature is that of a waterfall flowing from the bridge deck into a large swimming pool on the main deck.

Nantes-based interior designer Franck Darnet has already designed two 45m superyachts with the shipyard (Africa, delivered in 2009, and Project Sunset, due for delivery in 2013).

A new contract is good news for any shipyard, but for Sunrise Yachts the 56m project adds to an abundance of existing constructions underway at the shipyard’s Antalya facility. Already under construction is a 32m explorer motoryacht, a 45m motoryacht, and two 63m motoryacht (to read about and view images of the construction of 63m Project 601 please click here). Once construction begins on Project Sunrise #561, 260m of superyachts will be under construction at a very busy Sunrise Yachts.
