Southern Wind's 'Farfalla' to launch Spring 2014

Southern Wind has set the date for the launch of its new SW 102 hull number three, Farfalla, for early spring 2014.

The Cape Town, South Africa based shipyard is now working hard to build the third hull in the SW102 line. The 31.78m super sailing yacht will be a raised saloon version, featuring bright panoramic windows on the coach roof and an airy under-deck open saloon.

“Compared to her sisters Almagores II and Hevea, the new SW102 Farfalla will have a raised saloon deckhouse and a much more ample garage. Nevertheless, we have been able to maintain a light displacement of 62 tonnes as with her sisters,” said Ing. Willy Persico, founder and CEO of Southern Wind Shipyard.

The yacht sees the return of Nauta Yacht Design, the Italian design studio behind many other SW models. Nauta Yacht Design is responsible for the general design, deck and interior design whilst Farr Yacht Design has delivered the naval architecture, sail plan and appendages.



She will have a large garage capable of storing a tender of four metres. The yacht interior layout will be classical and in line with Southern Wind Shipyard philosophy. The master’s cabin is afore and the crew quarters in the aft.



Farfalla will be delivered to her owner in early summer 2014. The yard has already lined up the next in the fleet; building 102 hull number four this summer.
