Schiller unveils its new water bikes

Schiller unveils the newest addition to the tenders and toys market…

From paddle boards to jetpacks, there is nothing in the tender and toys market that wouldn’t excite even the most subdued superyacht guest. Now, American company Schiller Bikes is introducing a new superyacht toy concept: cycling on the water.

With assembly taking less than 10 minutes, the lightweight ‘water bike’ is designed to perform well in the open water. The initial idea was founded on the belief that a blue planet is meant for biking. With a dedication to sustainability and protecting the marine environment, the Schiller concept looks for new ways to enjoy the sea without destroying it. As a result, the water bike uses the company’s technology and engineering to improve the lives of people in the developing world living in water based communities.

Constructed out of marine grade alloys, the bike is equipped with a proprietary drive train and comes with a durable, urethane coated outdrive and solid pontoons. There is even a watertight compartment for drinks and snacks, for guests that want a slightly longer excursion.

But further to the fun element, the Schiller Bike is a new approach to fitness on a superyacht. Why use the bike in the superyacht gym, when you could be doing the same out on the water? There are approximately one billion bikes around the world, Schiller is approaching the cycling market with something different to offer.

Earlier this year, the Schiller bikes received recognition from the Princess of Monaco and were used for a water bike race in the Riviera Water Challenge, which is a 21-kilometre relay race that took place earlier this year.

The bikes have a relaxed average cruising speed of roughly five knots, however, the bikes have been designed to reach speeds of up to 10 knots in steady waters, depending on the rider.

These new toys are a welcome addition for guests that are looking for more athletic activities to take part in during their stay. Mirroring the rise in popularity of active toys such as paddle boards, Schiller bikes show that those on board want to keep fit, and have fun.
