Rossinavi unveils new project with Federico Fiorentino

Family-owned Italian shipyard Rossinavi has unveiled a new 55m project in collaboration with Milan-based designer Federico Fiorentino. Named Zephyr 55, the new project is based on the fast displacement hull form (FDHF) created by Van Oossanen Naval Architects, and, inspired by the bodywork of muscle cars from the ’50s and ’60s which, somewhat conversely, is the basis for the yacht’s futuristic appearance.

Flexibility is a key element of this new project and, as a result, it has been developed as both a high-performance yacht, capable of reaching speeds of up to 32 knots, as well as an ideal day boat for island hopping, thanks to its shallow draft of 2m. Furthermore, the yacht has a vast 300sqm exterior beach area on the aft deck, as well as an elevated sunbathing area. The sheer amount of exterior space of the yacht actually works incredibly well, resulting in areas by the aft pool not seeming cramped as is the case with so many vessels, leaving enough room for an adequate seating area.

Despite being inspired by bodywork of muscle cars and sports cars of some 70 years ago , there is no doubt that the design of the yacht is futuristic – the rounded shape of the bow adds to the vessel’s futuristic element, along with the forward lines and grill-like detailing.

This very open design has also been carried out within the interior, which has been designed by Pisa-based studio Pulina. Throughout the interior many transparent or reflective surfaces have been used to create a bright and uncluttered feel, adding to that futuristic element, much like the exterior of the vessel.

According to SuperyachtIntelligence.com there are currently six yachts under construction at the Italian shipyard, two of which have been launched, with a cumulative LOA of 329.7m. This year Rossinavi plans to deliver a total of three yachts, including N2H, which has already been delivered. This is the highest number of deliveries for the shipyard in one year for the last five years.

On Thursday 16th November, the superyacht design day will take place at The Superyacht Forum, held in Amsterdam from the 13th – 16th November. For more information on the design day, and to register your place, please click here.
