Refitted 'Seven Sins' leaves Icon Yachts

Dutch shipyard Icon Yachts has completed the six-week refit of Heesen Yachts' 2005 build 'Seven Sins'. Her captain shared his views on the refit before the yacht left Holland for the Mediterranean.…

The 41.3m Heesen superyacht, Seven Sins, has left Dutch shipyard Icon Yachts following her six-week refit. The refit project, which was first planned to take 10 weeks, was completed on 19 June 2012 when the 2005 motoryacht left Holland and headed towards the Mediterranean.

Project Manager Jacob de Boer oversaw an extensive list of tasks undertaken as part of the refit, including a full re-paint of the hull, generator overhaul, interior touch-up, the addition of two windows in the superstructure, and new teak on the swim platform, as well as 21 further jobs.

Martin Andersson, captain of Seven Sins, told Icon Yachts that he was initially sceptical about travelling to Holland for the refit: “At first I was really opposed to the idea of going all the way to Holland for a six-week refit. I thought the time lost in transit would be a big issue to make our first charter.”

However, following the refit Andersson declared: “I do believe that in spending that extra time to get here you will actually make time. We had more work done in a week here than we would have in two in the Mediterranean, and the quality is better.”

Andersson also praised the cooperation of de Boer, comparing his work ethic with that of other refit yards and projects, stating that, “on most yards you feel that you are working against the project manager.”

Having finished the Seven Sins refit, Icon Yachts has now completed eight refit projects in the last 18 months. Bloemsma Van Breemen’s 48.15m motoryacht Rahil is currently undergoing a refit at the shipyard’s Harlingen facility, and is expected to leave the yard very soon. Also at the yard is Lürssen's 93m sailing yacht Eos, whose Royal Huisman-refit is being undertaken in Icon Yachts' dry dock.
