Perini Navi delivers 60th yacht

The Italian shipyard Perini Navi has delivered 38m S/Y Dahlak to her owner. …

Perini Navi Group announced the delivery of its 60th yacht to her owner. The 38m sailing yacht known as Dahlak, is a result of the collaboration between Perini Navi and the the naval architect Phillippe Briand. The interior of the sailing yacht is the work of the Perini Navi interior team.

The sailing yacht is an aluminium sloop, and is the second of the Perini Navi series of 38m performance sailing yachts. It is equipped with 'proprietary sail handling', which is meant to ease the sailing experience. At the same time, the electric winches, controlled by one joystick, aim to increase the sailing yacht's movement efficiency and control. Dahlak also features a Lithium polymer battery system. This allows the yacht to be operated under battery power, without the usage of a generator.

The owner of the sailing yacht explained he did not want engines to be operating while he is sailing, adding, "at Perini Navi, I found a very positive environment where I could express my vision, this is reflected in the finished yacht".

In The Superyacht Intelligence Annual Report 2016, Perini Navi is ranked 20th worldwide based on historical performance. Having delivered only one yacht in 2015 - the 60m Perseus3, the shipyard's order book looks relatively healthy with a total of three yachts in build. This includes the 70m Sybaris due to deliver in 2016. Almost all previous Perini Navi projects have been collaborations with Phillippe Briand.
