Pendennis Plus refitting 71m Dona Amélia
Devonport Yachts will now operate under the banner of 'Pendennis Plus' in keeping with its new headquarters in the Pendennis Shipyard. Its first project under the new pseudonym is the major refit of 1929 classic yacht, Dona Amélia.…
Its first major refit project at its new home is also its largest to date, as it undertakes the refit of 71m Dona Amélia. The 12-week project is to be overseen by Stephen Hills who has extensive experience of the 60m+ market, having worked with Devonport for a considerable period.
The project is somewhat unique as the vessel in question is a classic construct from 1929, and previously known as Haida G. With an impressive 15 tanks onboard, a major part of the schedule will involve the maintenance and servicing of her main engines, generators, AC, watermakers, thrusters, hydraulics and windlass. There will also be an overhaul of her traditional teak decks, exterior bright work and bowsprit.
The team is also refitting a 42m Feadship build, with completion due in Spring 2012. Other projects currently underway include Aria, which is currently in the yard undergoing keel box repairs and paint works before leaving at the end of September just as Jasali II, the 53m Perini Navi Ketch, sails into Pendennis for her winter refit. At the end of October the 32m Feadship, Heavenly Daze, will be hauled out for a seven month refit.
Sales and Marketing Director Toby Allies commented: “With plenty of ongoing enquiries, including60m+ vessels, the upcoming months look set to improve even on the record breaking winter refit season of 2010-11.”
