Pacific Asian Enterprises launches flagship Nordhavn 120

New 36.5m flagship yacht, Nordhavn 120, has launched into her test tank at South Coast Marine, Xiamen, China. It brings her ‘one step closer’ toward completion and delivery to her new owner say her US based builders, Pacific Asian Enterprises Inc (PAE).

She will undergo a month’s worth of tests in her tank, the last steps prior to sea trials and ABS certification assessment. She will then be delivered via her own bottom to Vancouver, Canada this summer.

“We are thrilled in anticipation at the impending unveiling of the Nordhavn 120,” read the statement from PAE.

“Our architecture and design team, together with the craftsmen at South Coast Marine [the yard's partner factory in China], engineering contractors, the phenomenal interior design staff at Destry Darr and countless vendors have cultivated a world class yacht that is second to none,“ they added.



With a non-stop range from China to Vancouver at a speed of within three knots of what freighters typically travel, the decision to ‘drive’ her home was made carefully. She is due to depart her China factory on 1 July by a delivery crew led by PAE vice president, and naval architect of the yacht, Jim Leishman. The goal is to make a quick and efficient passage running as fast as possible using the same fuel management practices on board  the Nordhavn 40 on her around the world voyage. The passage is expected to take 24-28 days.



In addition to owners' suite she accommodates up to eight guests. She has four decks and four king-sized guest suites plus owners’ suite. Her builders describe her a ‘personal luxury ocean liner.’ Interiors feature finest hardwoods and finishes and can be customised to owners’ wishes.

Nordhavn 120 has 385 tonne displacement and twin MTU Series 2000 engines at 709.76 kw each.

The 120 is the first in the largest range from Nordhavn, California, which has built several smaller models at the South Coast Marine site.
