Outboard covers from Outboard Covers UK

The first mate of a 32m sailing yacht has recently ordered outboard covers for a 9m tender and a small RIB from Outboard Covers UK and gives the company top marks for quality and delivery speed.…

Like most superyachts, the one which I work on has a cover for everything. This season we decided to get covers made for the three outboard engines on our two tenders. One is 9m and the other is a small RIB.

We chose to order them from Outboard Covers UK, a UK-based company that specialises in making custom outboard covers. They provide branded covers to most of the leading outboard manufacturers and have developed the ability to deliver fully custom covers in a very short period of time with the implementation of some modern technology!

Outboard Covers UK offers several different types of covers. We chose full winter covers and a summer “splash” cover for each engine. The splash covers have vents in the right places for our engines so we can use them while the engine is running. The winter covers are for when the boats are layed-up ashore.

The ordering process is easy: simply supply the engine make, model and horsepower and then select the colours you want. You can also add custom graphics very easily if you want the boat name to be printed.

The covers are waterproof and stain resistant on the outside. I managed to get a paper cut at some stage during the installation and even bloodstains washed off with just water! The inside of the cover is lined with a soft fleece material and they use a combination of zips and velcro for securing.

Managing Director James Abrahams dealt with our order extremely efficiently. He explained that his factory is located in Australia and covers are usually shipped weekly; being based in both Australia and Europe gives them the capability to ship to yachts worldwide in order to meet tight schedules.

Our covers were delivered in no time at all; shipped from the UK and passed through customs without any problems. For any boat with new engines, these covers are an excellent way of keeping the engine cowling free from scratches and UV damage. Well done, Outboard Covers UK.
