OmniAccess to offer global coverage for VSAT service
OmniAccess has confirmed that its BroadBEAM FLEX VSAT service will offer complete global coverage, as of 1 October 2011. The company will be discussing its expanded service, and other offerings, at the 2011 Monaco Yacht Show. …
The result is that yacht owners will be able to use the service in ‘off the beaten track’ areas, as well as the major cruising regions. For the first time, high-speed Internet connectivity will be available in places such as the Maldives and South Pacific.
The BroadBEAM FLEX VSAT service utilises the latest iDirect Evolution DVB-S2 technology and is specially designed for yachts. Once launched, it will be offered in speeds ranging from 512/128 kbps to 3072/512 kbps, and a guaranteed core network availability of 99.2% is offered. Industry-leading technical support from a highly qualified and experienced support team comes as standard.
Carlos Carbajal, Managing Director Yacht Services at OmniAccess, said: “Our new BroadBEAM FLEX VSAT is now available in all corners of the globe and offers increased resilience against blind-spots and adverse weather conditions, meaning that we can offer an unrivalled service with optimum connectivity at all times. We have many years of experience in the field of wireless network technologies and the expansion of this service is the latest addition to our extensive portfolio of cutting-edge services and products, which we provide to some of the world’s most impressive yachts.”
OmniAccess will also be offering its BroadBEAM ULTRA 20 megabit VSAT service as a seasonal package for superyacht owners cruising the Caribbean in winter 2011.
Designed specifically for the superyacht sector, The OmniAccess BroadBEAM ULTRA service allows for the use of next generation, bandwidth hungry applications like high-definition video-conferencing, the simultaneous streaming of multiple HDTV channels, and other extreme applications. Utilising the latest iDirect® Evolution DVB-S2 technology, the BroadBEAM ULTRA service is offered in speed of 10 megabits and 20 megabits, and will be available as a “shared” service with a low contention ratio of 5:1 or a fully dedicated service with a contention-ratio of 1:1.
The OmniAccess team will be discussing both services at the forthcoming Monaco Yacht Show from 21-24 September 2011.
