Oculus Technologies has launched YachtEye Portable, which enables users to access a superyacht's data on YachtEye via tablet devices including iPads and Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab.

The interactive application, which communicates to an onboard YachtEye rack mounted unit, provides the user with an interactive touch experience of many of the modules already available through YachtEye. These include customised images in 2D of the yacht and tenders, customised onscreen data and information and customised animation of the superyacht in a real time location linked to Google Earth. Other features offered on YachtEye Portable are the yacht’s itinerary, planned and historical routes and local information.

Owners can opt to scale the availability of this product to the iPad or various other portable tablet devices to suit their requirements. Guests can also have the application added to their personal iPads. As the application is locked to the boat’s Wi-Fi network, the YachtEye data remains secure and can no longer be accessed once off the boat. There is an option however to use YachtEye Portable remotely from home or the office via a secure and encrypted connection.

YachtEye is already installed on a number of superyachts from 46m-140m.

“Introducing the iPad integration for YachtEye was a natural step in our continuing product and software development", said Stefan van Cleef, co-owner of Oculus Technologies BV. "We are dedicated to working with technology trends and client requirements to ensure our products offer the very best for onboard user experiences. With this latest variant within the YachtEye product portfolio, we wanted to ensure that the solution provided worked not only as an 'add-on' to all of the other features available, but also operated as a product solution in its own right.”
