Numerous ‘classics’ listed for sale with Camper & Nicholsons

58.8m Marala, 38.1m Mariquita, 43m Columbia II and 36.4m Canpark have been listed for sale.…

Over the past week or so, Camper & Nicholsons has announced four new central agency listings – 58.8m Marala, 38.1m Mariquita, 43m Columbia II and 36.4m Canpark – two of which are considered to be true ‘classics’ and one that is a historic replica new construction opportunity.

The 58.8m motoryacht Marala was listed for sale on 5 July with Jean Marie Recamier, with an asking price of €10 million. In 1931, she was custom-built in steel by Camper & Nicholsons Ltd shipyard in Southampton.

Marala has been very well maintained during the course of her 85 years on the water and is now for sale for the first time in 53 years. She has a very well-preserved art deco interior, designed by the late Charles E. Nicholson, and offers accommodation for 13 guests over seven staterooms.

Also on 5 July, 38.1m Mariquita, one of the world’s most iconic sailing yachts, was listed for sale with Adam-Michael Papadakis, with an asking price of €3.5 million. She was built by William Fife & Sons at their Fairlie shipyard in Scotland and delivered in 1911.

In 1991 she was saved by William Collier and Albert Obrist who subsequently inaugurated a restoration project at Fairlie Restorations, where she was completely rebuilt around her carefully maintained original structure and interior. In 2004, she set sail again, marking the return of the Big Class and J Class.

On 7 July, 43m Columbia II was listed for sale with AJ MacDonald and John Weller with an asking price of $21.5 million (€19.43 million). She is hull number two of the historic replica of the Columbia – a classic 1923 Gloucester fishing schooner – and is currently under construction at The Eastern Shipbuilding Group, with delivery due for 2017.

The steel construction will have a sail area of over 930 square metres, supported by a single 587hp C18 Caterpillar engine, capable of obtaining a range of 4,000 nautical miles. She will offer accommodation for 12 guests over four en-suite staterooms, equipped with Pullman berths.

The fourth of the new listings is the most contemporary of the selection, 36.4m Canpark. After an extensive refit in 2015, the 2007 ISA Yachts build is on the market with Richard Higgins for €4.65 million.
