New compact generator on GMS

New Zealand based company General Marine Services have launched a powerful new compact generator from Cummins Onan Marine.  The new QD model in its 50 Hz configuration has an output of 60kw despite having the same carbon footprint as most 4kw units.


Michael Coventry of GMS explained that the generator achieves this improved performance through a combination of an electronically operated 4-stroke engine and a Cummins YVB 2-pole alternator.  Coventry commented, “This sophisticated new generator also features a compact acoustic housing to ensure very quiet operation (even at full load) and very low vibration.” He highlighted that “It also boasts clever on-board generator diagnostics and protection as well as an improved motor starting capability.”

The QD generator weighs 196kg and measures 664mm by 583mm and is 535mm high.
