OmniAccess to upgrade maritime network to iDirect's Evolution X7
VT iDirect, Inc., owned by VT Systems, Inc, has announced that OmniAccess S.L. will be the first iDirect partner to upgrade its entire maritime satellite network to iDirect’s soon-to-be-released next-generation Evolution X7 remotes and iDX 3.2 software featuring Adaptive Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA).…
Through the upgrade, OmniAccess will be able to offer higher throughput rates for its maritime applications. OmniAccess will leverage the X7, with its new multi-core processor, to deliver rates, it is claimed, will exceed 50Mbps. This will enable the company to offer yacht owners and passengers high speed access to high-definition video conferencing, streaming HDTV channels, corporate VPN access and toll-quality voice calls from anywhere in the world.
By implementing Adaptive TDMA, OmniAccess will also be able to provide greater network availability to its customers who regularly travel through changing weather and varied satellite spectrum conditions. With iDX 3.2, VSAT networks can be designed to provide more than 20dB in fade margin without compromising clear weather throughput, resulting in a 40 per cent to 80 per cent throughput gain in handling rain fade and beam contours for a typical mobile network.
Commenting on the news OmniAcess' CEO, Bertrand Hartman said: “At OmniAccess we strive to offer industry-leading speed and availability performance to our customers, and we are convinced that the combination of iDirect’s iDX 3.2 software and powerful next-generation Evolution X7 remotes will bring major benefits to our customers. Upgrading our entire network will be a very important step for our company, and we are convinced that by becoming the first adopter of iDirect’s leading technology, OmniAccess is well positioned to take full benefit of the abundant new bandwidth and capabilities of new high throughput satellite technology.”
“In the luxury vessel market, end customers are looking for service providers to deliver more speed and higher performance for their critical applications. iDirect’s iDX 3.2 software and X7 remotes enable service providers to meet these demands. By becoming the first adopter, OmniAccess has solidified its reputation as a pioneer in the maritime industry and is strongly positioned to capture new opportunity and advance its position as a market leader”, added Stephen Tunnicliffe, iDirect's regional vice president for Europe.
