Cristiano Gatto appointed interior stylist for Heesen's project Nova

Italian designer Cristiano Gatto is appointed as interior stylest of Project Nova…

Following the sale of project YN 17850, otherwise known as Nova in June 2016, Heesen Yachts has annouched that the owner has appointed Italian designer Cristiano Gatto as the interior stylist.

As one of the most prominent users of the Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) developed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects, the Dutch shipyard has taken the concept one step further and introduced their first hybrid FDHF superyacht, which enhances the efficiency of the yacht and results in a far more pleasant experience on board due to the reduction in noise and vibrations.

Designed with comfort in mind, the general arrangement of the 500gt superyacht boasts wide open interior spaces throughout and accomodates 12 guests across six cabins, including a full beam owner’s stateroom on the main deck.

According to the shipyard, the original design brief for the interior styling was ‘to provide a relaxed and welcoming beach club ambiance with ample connection to the outside environment.’ Thanks to the design of the yacht with elements such as the floor to ceiling windows, the original brief still stands, however Cristiano Gatto has made a number of modifications to satisfy the owner’s wishes.

“The owner asked us to modify the colour scheme, design details and overall decoration to give the interior a contemporary, almost minimalist design,” says Cristiano Gatto, who worked particularly closely with the owner to ensure that the style of the yacht matches his lifestyle.

“We stepped in when the outfitting works were in an advanced stage, so we had to work with the existing structures. A two-tone palette has been chosen to give the interiors a bright and relaxing feel,” continues Gatto. “The contrast between the pure white of the fabrics, leather and lacquered surfaces and the warm hues of woods creates a sophisticated ambiance in all the rooms, bathrooms included.”

Throughout the yacht however, there are hints of colour with deep red and burgundy decorative items in addition to the two-tone base palate to brighten up the scheme. “The burgundy decorative items, cushions and throws in both the exterior and interior areas are designed to catch the eye and juice things up,” comments Gatto.

Project Nova is scheduled to be launched on 14th April 2017 from the Heesen shipyard in Oss.
