Ferretti Group launches 26.5m Ferretti 870

On 5 June 2012 the Ferretti Group launched the first model from its new ‘big crafts’ range, the 26.5m Ferretti 870. Launched in Cattolica with the backdrop of the Marina di Cattolica, the Ferretti Yachts motoryacht will shortly undergo all necessary technical checks including RINA tests, prototype sea trials and the verification of systems and appliances, as well as the completion of her on board furnishings. Following which, she will be delivered to her European owner.

The Ferretti 870, entirely built in the group’s Cattolica production unit, has seen the close cooperation of Studio Zuccon International Project, Advanced Yacht Technology (AYT – Ferretti Group’s research and naval design centre), and a Centro Stile Ferrettigroup team of architects and designers.

“We are extremely proud of this new launch,” said Ferretti Yachts Brand Manager Alessandro Tirelli. “The Ferretti 870 stands out for its great focus on on board comfort and wellbeing through brilliant, innovative interior design solutions, but also for its outstanding performances, extraordinary on board noiselessness and then unique privacy it ensures. We are really looking forward to presenting it as an absolute premiere at the September and October boat shows.”

The successor of the Ferretti 830, the Ferretti 870 features a bronze dome over the navigation bridge – a feature also found on the Ferretti 800 – as well as large glazing on the main deck and two large open-view windows in the hull at the height of the master stateroom, which have been joined by the opening portholes of the guest cabins and by the double window of the forward VIP cabin.

In her first medium load trial carried out by the prototype testing team the 26.5m motoryacht’s two MTU 12 V 2000 M94 engines allowed her to reach a maximum speed of 32 knots. She has also been equipped with the Mitsubishi Anti Rolling Gyro system which reduces rolling by more than 50%.

The Ferretti 870 will be presented as a world premiere at the Cannes Boat Show from 11 – 16 September 2012.

Specifications of the Ferretti 870:
LOA: 26.64m
Beam: 6.26m
Engines: MTU 2 x 12 V 2000 M94
Cruising speed: 27 knots (prediction data)
Max speed: 32 knots (prediction data)
