Feadship's 99m project 'Dream' launches in Holland

'Dream', which has been launched from Feadship's Makkum facility, is the biggest yacht to come out from the yard as well as Holland.…

Feadship has broken two records with its latest launch, a 99m motoryacht that goes under the name of project name, Dream.

Launched this morning, she is the largest yacht to come out of the Feadship yard in Makkum, Holland as well as the country’s largest build to date.

Four years in the making, she is described by her creators as ‘sleek and quick’, with ‘exquisite’ exterior detailing, bound to turn heads in the marinas of the world.

She left the building hall today, though details on her owner and destination, are strictly under wraps.

Project Dream features exterior styling and interior design by Andrew Winch Designs, with naval architecture is by Feadship. She is relatively lightweight for her size and can reach a maximum speed of 24 knots owing to her hull form and quadruple engines driving controllable pitch propellers swiftly and efficiently.

Completely custom made for the client, she is a unique addition to the superyacht fleet, as marketing manager Francis Vermeer explained:

"Because we start every project afresh and are not building from an existing platform, all things are possible for a Feadship owner. It’s all part of the experience that makes creating a Feadship such fun for our clients.”

There are nonetheless some elements of previous Feadship yachts that influenced decisions in her design. For example, the fully enclosed helicopter hangar developed for 86m Ecstasea in 2004, is also seen on Project Dream.

“Feadship enters 2013 on a crest of a wave as we continue to set new standards in partnership with discerning owners,” concluded Vermeer, who added intriguingly that, "there will be many more surprises as the year unfolds.”

The 99m launch is part of what is predicted to be a record year for yachts in the 100m range. “There are more yachts being built in this size category than ever before,” says Ellie Brade in The Superyacht Annual Report’s global order book which registers 15 yachts of over 100m in the order book.
