F1 and a Surgeon

Part of the appeal of Glyn Peter Machin’s designs is that he will never conform to standards. These white lacquered fibre sunbeds have bends and curves in all the right places and have already received a global design patent. The whole concept of “Le Clip” developed from designer Glyn Peter Machin unravelling metal paper clips. “I just happened to be playing with a paper clip on a flight whilst looking at a racing car magazine, which also had an article about a F1 crazy surgeon. All these images merged in my mind and I ended up drawing the Le Clip Lounger profile based on an unravelled paperclip. The rear perspective view of a F1 Car and a pair of medical scissors.”
A surgeon? F1? If the side profile of the Le Clip lounger is mirrored it forms a pair of medical scissors or grips like the surgeon was holding in the image. The F1 connection takes a little more imagination, “it’s there in the final lounger shapes if you want to see it. And of course the carbon.”
There are two versions of the Le Clip lounger - the more refined TYC-GP1, which has body shaped upholstered pads providing high comfort, whilst the shape of TYC-GP2 lounger allows your body to ‘fold’ into it with its flowing curves and pads. Both have integrated towel and shoe platforms formed as the upper body profiles sweep over and flow back to floor level.
