Dubois Naval Architects announces new 100m contract
Dubois Naval Architects has signed a new contract to design a 100m sloop, which it presented at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show. The explorer sailing yacht, which features a mast that will stretch 125m above the water, was created for an existing client.…
“We are pleased to announce the design contract for a 100m sloop,” explains founder and designer, Ed Dubois. “This will demand a 30-month design programme with construction expected to commence mid 2013 with completion 2016.”
With a maximum draft of 12.8m, the centreboard design incorporates a hard top over the flybridge, with a generous amount of volume devoted to the stowage of equipment and tenders. The interior is by Josep Juanpere Miret, a designer DNA has worked with on previous projects, and will accommodate 20 crew in single cabins.
The shipyard along with additional details on the project, which will be managed by Klaus Allebrodt at Idea Yacht Support, have yet to be announced. However, the studio has said that several shipyards have expressed an interest in the build contract.
We hope to report more on the project in 2012.
