Columbus yachts has announced the sale of the first hull in the Columbus Sport Hybrid series to an American Client. The deal was brokered by Dean Anthony of Allied Marine Superyacht Division acting on behalf of the buyer and the Palumbo Group's commercial office.

This is the first time in the Italian shipyard’s history that a yacht has been sold to an American client. According to Palumbo, the new owner was so impressed that he decided to become a brand ambassador for Columbus Yachts in America.

Now renamed Elanora III, the 40m hybrid will undergo some maintenance work as the owner was enthusiastic about the easy-to-personalise layout of the yacht and ordered a bespoke restyling of the interior. This easy-to-personalise approach is the product of a concept design conceived of by Giuseppe Palumbo and his team with the intention of enabling easy restyling with minimal intervention.

Elanora III, is a semi displacement superyacht that was delivered in 2013. She is powered by a hybrid propulsion package combining high performance with a reduced environmental impact. She is able to reach a maximum speed of 20 knots and when in Diesel electric can cruise silently using only her diesel electric motors. Furthermore, when underway in electric mode, she consumes only 2.5 gallons of fuel per mile.

The yacht will spend this summer season in the Mediterranean before relocating to American waters.
