Christensen Shipyards to build Custom 160' Series superyacht

Christensen Shipyards has confirmed that it is to build a new Custom 160' Series superyacht with delivery due in 2013. The client is a repeat Christensen buyer having previously owned 'Cacique'.…

US builder Christensen Shipyards has confirmed the signing of a new superyacht contract for the construction of a Custom 160’ Series project. The client is Donald A. Burns , the yard’s 20th repeat client, who previously owned Christensen’s 36.6m Cacique.

Upon delivery in September 2013 the 48.8m yacht will be, according to the yard, among the first US-flagged vessels with commercial charter capabilities in Europe.

The yacht’s interior will be designed by Tonya Lance of VARO Interior Design and will showcase custom sycamore and rosewood woodwork,  and ‘exotic’ stone surfaces, all produced in-house.

Outwardly the yacht will mirror previous Custom Series vessels with a raised forward full-shear bulwark and vertical pilothouse windows. In line with her interior the yacht’s exterior styling will promote clean understated style.

Describing the vessel’s layout and features, a spokesperson for Christensen said:

“The six gracious staterooms in this Custom Series will comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests. The Owner's stateroom will be on the main deck with an en suite bathroom adorned with custom finishes. The VIP and four guest cabins will be positioned on the lower deck, each with its own bathroom and the same linear designs accentuated throughout the staterooms. Each stateroom will have autonomous control of an extensive movie and music library, U.S., Caribbean, and European satellite television, iPad interface, and the fastest internet speeds available.

“The outdoor living areas will provide abundant opportunities for entertaining and basking in the sun. The sun deck will include a full height bar, Jacuzzi tub and lavish lounge areas. The bridge deck will offer two alfresco dining arrangements and an extended living space. The main aft deck provides a large dining table and a full height service bar area. The exterior decks will be fully equipped with ample room designated for a helipad and toys.“

The yacht will be powered by two CAT 3512 series engines, with a range of 4,000 nautical miles. She features ZeroSpeed-At Anchor stabilisers.
