Turkish superyacht builder Alia Yachts has confirmed the delivery of 31m M/Y Virgen del Mar VI, the fourth custom superyacht to be completed by the shipyard over 30m. Described by the shipyard as a ‘pocket superyacht’, this new fully custom addition to the fleet has been designed in such a way that the vessel offers a great deal of room on board within the confines of 235gt.

“There is nothing quite like her size in the market,” says Gökhan Çelik, president of Alia Yachts. A bold statement one might think, but one that is certainly not far from the truth. If we look at the 30-35m superyachts that have hit the water in the last year, only one superyacht other than M/Y Virgen del Mar VI, M/Y Northlander by Burger Boat, is a custom build.

“There are plenty of 30 metre yachts out there,” continues Çelik. “But most are production boats and none of them offer quite the same volume and degree of customisation or bespoke design features.”

The exterior design of the new 31m has been created by Dutch design studio Omega Architects, which has a  distinctive raised pilot house profile and continuous dark features which accentuate her length. “Our signature style with sleek flowing lines can be recognised in the yacht’s soft angled inclining overhangs aft and forward, giving her elegance as well as functionality with the gentle inclining stern bulwark protecting privacy on the swim platform,” says Frank Laupman of Omega Architects. “We also optimised the waterline length by the plumb bow, where a narrow entry of the hull provides higher efficiency at higher displacement speeds and adds to an impressive range of 4,500nm."

“I felt so lucky to have had the chance to visit the yacht recently at Alia shipyard," says Laupman. "Seeing her in all her splendor with my own eyes, I was truly impressed by the achievement of the highly skilled craftsmen at the shipyard for turning our design ideas into the three dimensional and true lady of the seas.

“We would also like to thank our principal at Alia for the great collaboration and we are looking forward to continue realizing more ideas together for the future starting today," Laupman continues. "And last but not least, we congratulate the owner, wishing him many years of joy onboard Virgen Del Mar VI, indulging all she has to offer while traveling the world.”

The interiors of the vessel have been created by British design studio RWD. Based on a palette of light oak and dark sycamore with hand cast bronze detailing is fresh and airy with a wonderful casual elegance throughout the yacht.

“Virgen del Mar VI started as a one-off project, but we have Letters of Intent to build further units with fully customisable interiors,” says Çelik. “We are also developing a 37 metre and 50 metre version based on the same platform.”

Since the shipyard was established 10 years ago by Çelik and his business partner Ömer Koray, Alia Yachts has delivered a total of ten boats, six of which are between 24 and 30m
