SpecTec provides software solutions for ships, yachts, shipyards, shipping and ship management companies. Spec Tec's core product for the yacht market is the IDEA software, an easy-to-use software program that greatly facilitates technical and operational management of today’s super yachts. Its modules include:

• a database program for onboard components and materials that provides links to related documentation, pictures, spare parts, maintenance intervals and service history
• a maintenance management system (generation of departmental task lists)
• a stock control system with wireless barcode scanners for check-in, check-out and active inventory
• a document management system to keep track of all documents (especially those related to ISM and ISPS compliance)
• a simple application for accounting and budgeting
• a comprehensive database system for crew and guest details
• an engine room logbook program, etc. 

SpecTec can also be contracted for the development of an as built equipment and material database for a vessel. For all important components and materials this will typically include:

• model
• serial number
• technical specification
• photo
• installation location
• manufacturer and supplier details
• recommended maintenance intervals
• operational and emergency procedures (step-by-step)
• spare parts
• scanned manufacturer documentation, certificates and drawings.
