Nobeltec has released its latest PC-based navigation software, TimeZero Trident. The new product offers and improved user interface and TimeZero chart engine. The chart engine features seamless chart graphics and faster redraw, enabling the operator to zoom, pan, change display modes and perform other functions at greater speeds.

The software is based on a fully 3D environment so that the charts are also rendered in 3D. The software uses MapMedia charts and users can choose which data they prefer from multiple chart sources in the MM3D format. The options within the MapMedia data include vector charts from C-MAP by Jeppesen and DataCore by Navionics, as well as official S-57 vector and raster charts from hydrographic offices around the world.

The system operates in real time so that the image projected onscreen corresponds exactly to the vessel’s position. This adds accuracy to the navigation process.

This latest version also includes PhotoFusion, which allows the user to navigate over raster and vector charts whilst viewing high-resolution photographic imagery. The seabed, and other landmasses, are displayed as satellite images on the chart. As the depth between the vessel and the seabed increases these images become more transparent allowing the operator to distinguish between shallow water and deep water. This allows rocks and coral to be identified more easily.

Like the current versions of VNS and Admiral, Trident is compatible with Nobeltec InSight radars. Additionally, Trident supports the best of class Furuno FAR2XX7 radar making it ideal for light commercial and workboat users who want to optimize radar integration. Trident will also integrate with Furuno's NavNet 3D chart plotters and Radar (DRS), DFF1 and DFF3 black box sounders, the FA30 and FA50 AIS units, standard NMEA 0183 navigation sensors, and NMEA 2000 networks.
